Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Cody M — 23 Nov 2009
Disappointing sci-fi actioner with a steampunk edge that has the world, now run by corporations, being over run by mutated zombies generated by an ancient alien machine that crashed to Earth centuries ago.
A monk from a secret order (Ron Perlman) recruits a suicide squad (led by Tom Jane) to destroy the machine, following the instructions of an ancient chronicle. Based, albeit loosely. on the roleplaying game, the film is too derivative of it's betters to be successful, though an interesting look and decent performances from old pros Perlman, Jane and Sean Pertwee salvage value from this murky production.
