Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Thomas D — 31 Aug 2010
Mutant Chronicles was decent. It was a submerging, comic book style movie that takes place in the future where primitave, deformed Mutants have run amok and inhabited most of the main cities which are all basically destroyed now.
The movie features some big names in the action/ comic field. Tom Jane from 'The Punisher', Ron Perlman from 'Hellboy', that Chinese girl from Sin City, John Malkovich from Jonah Hex. So it's full of comic book movie influence as well as FX.
The colors of the movie are similar to 'Sin City' or '300' as there are certain things that are highlighted brighter than others such as blood. The acting wasn't all that great, but the action seemed to fill in for the lame dialog.
The plot was so-so. I didn't quite understand the whole point of going down that far underground when it is absolutely swarming with the blood thirsty mutants! Doesn't that seem a bit like suicide! So the movie itself wasn't anything spectacular but it was a fun weekend watch.
3.0 starz.
