Review of Mutant Chronicles (2008) by Richard A — 21 Feb 2011
Didn't know what to expect with this one but was pleasantly surprised, blew me away at how entertaining it was. I'm not much for sci-fi but Mutant Chronicles uses a good cast, tight storyline and great special effects for this calibar of movie.
Some of the acting is a bit amateurish and the dialogue is a bit dull but it moves at a good pace, its exciting and Thomas Jane makes a good tough as nails hero, ugly ass Ron Perlman is littering another movie screen as a priest in this and even Johnny Malkovich adds in some fine style for a few brief moments, honorable mention must go to Sean Pertwee, that guy fucks shit up and gets his shit fucked up in every movie he's been in.
I love its big style, futuristic but at the same time classical look especially in the intro war scenes sort of a World War 1 meets the year 2027 battle, retro is the future it seems. Stuff Roger Corman only dreamed he could pull off.
