Review of Muscle Shoals (2013) by Martha B — 21 Nov 2013
Good remembrance and history of an important recording studio (and its spin-off studio) where a lot of great hits were produced. And the people behind them. Lots of music. Good interviews with a variety of famous and lesser known talent (though rather too much Bono, who had no real connection to Muscle Shoals and the studios).
The movie lays the mythologizing on a bit heavy, as if the moviemakers weren't confident of the worthiness of their subject matter. That aspect becomes tiresome after a while. Superb cinematography.
