I guess I expected more from Malle after watching Au Revoir, but even if I hadn't seen his other film, I still would have considered this film a minor success. I just felt that this movie was a little unfocused and unsure of what points it wanted to make.
Of course, Malle is a gifted filmmaker and his style is beautiful, but I just wished he would have made some adjustments to this script because with him as the director, this could have been an excellent film.
