Review of Muriel's Wedding (1994) by Fiona W — 20 Oct 2008
This dysfunctional family is so pathetic that I can't feel any empathy and sympathy towards the family members. The mother is passive, the father is just selfish and heartless, Muriel is a pathological liar and the siblings are bums and slackers.
The only character worth caring for is Rachel Griffiths' character who is spontaneous and spunky. And the plot, with the unattractive and pathetic woman transforming to a gorgeous one to be accepted by society, is really not my cup of tea.
