Review of Muriel's Wedding (1994) by Jess L — 06 Feb 2013
One of the best Australian films in recent history. A fresh and continually funny, surprising and heartfelt screenplay, performed by some of Australia's best actors, including a then fairly unknown Toni Collette.
This is a feel good film, with a vivacious soundtrack mostly made up of ABBA songs, and simplistically filmed to capture the feel of a common Australian family and community. Everything about this movie is excellent and it has gone down in history as one huge success story in Australian cinema. Hilarious movie.
