Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by P M — 14 Nov 2017
My wife and I checked out the latest adaptation of Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express". Like the first 1974 version, it's filled with stars. Kenneth Branagh stars and directs in this flick.
The movie looks great and he does a fine job (as usual) as renowned sleuth Hercule Poirot. The film essentially follows the novel and the original movie. It zips along quickly though this limits the large cast from making their roles meatier.
I was entertained while my wife dosed off a couple of times (not her kind of movie). I think this could have been more interesting if the story was set in a modern setting. Though the actual train stopped service a few years ago, one could envision a new train for a modern version of the story.
