Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Miguel D — 13 Dec 2017
I grew up in France. Kenneth Branagh bugged me the all the movie. His French accent is out of touch... Plus, he tried to be flamboyant but everything is overplayed and overdone! If I was the director of that movie, I would have done it like a Columbo episode.
I would have start with the scene where Hercule Poirot talks to the people sharing the same car in the train and then go in the past, even before the murder, show the murder, and then detail how the pact was made.
I would have shown the staging, in the train, as the movie does, and then jump back to the scene where Hercule Poirot is talking to everybody. People love the movie because of the cast. And the cast is fantastic, marvelous and flamboyant.
I didn't even know I was missing Michelle Pfeiffer until I saw her again. But this is not enough to save this movie. All that glitters is not gold. And it's too bad to miss greatness with such great actors! Like my idol (JCVD) would say "be aware"!
