Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Matthew S — 12 Nov 2017

Good example of its genre, a whodunit. This is not an action thriller meant to be like Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes. The audience is asked to play along with the detective and analyze the clues and suspicions and try to figure out who is the culprit, or at the reveal say ahhh that is how it all comes together.

What I didn't like about the movie was there was significant time spent on situations such as boarding the train that were discarded without resolve. This picture also obviously spends its money on people not scenery but then dwells on Poirot rather than letting the actors deliver convincing performances.

Overall we liked it; however, I am not sure this will go far in today's market. As we exited the theatre we observed a woman standing in front of the poster explaining all of the characters and how they fit together to her obviously action starved man.
