Review of Murder on the Orient Express (2017) by Samir B — 04 Nov 2017
I never read the novel , however I won't be surprised if its better than the movie ! not because Branagh didn't deliver nor that his vision was hindered by Agatha's challenging love for details and/or her demanding fans , but simply because its always the case :).
But having said that , this version of one of Agatha's most loved peace of work definitely would allure me to finally read it!
Apart from his over sized groomed mustache (looks fake somehow ), Branagh was the perfect choice for an OCD deductive and I like the fact that he is the director + producer at the same time. In this case Narcism worked!
Events unfold gradually but not dully , possibly due to fine screenplay combined with Johnny Depp awaited performance, which reminds us of his classics away from his recent commercial roles . And Michelle's strong come back were she finely depicted the role of a cougar widow, with a lot to offer . Moreover Dench persistent flawless acts, playing another royalty , nasty one this time . And for sure a well executed and yet an unpredictable role for Penelope staring as dovoted missionary . Also this my first time watching Daisy Riadly apart from the Star Wars franchise , and I can say confidently she has got a lot talent , somehow I'm reminded by Keira Knightley when I see her , though she doesn't look like her , could be her smile.Maybe!
Overall convincing good performance from all.
In short smartly entertaining with a unseen end .
Everyone is a suspect on that train!
