Review of Murder, My Sweet (1944) by Luis O — 02 Apr 2008
"'Okay Marlowe,' I said to myself. 'You're a tough guy. You've been sapped twice, choked, beaten silly with a gun, shot in the arm until you're crazy as a couple of waltzing mice. Now let's see you do something really tough - like putting your pants on.'".
Classic film noir. Enter Phillip Marlowe, private eye, and everything just gets out of hand. This film is fun cause there's the cynical sarcasm of the hero, he talks the talks. The film is kinda hard to follow but not as big a mess as the big sleep. There are some nice visuals in this film that stand out and really captures the mood. The whole story is a series of double crosses left and right and it is pretty entertaining. Not quite the masterpiece but pretty close.
