An entertaining spoof of classic mystery detectives, this movie is made all the more interesting by the distinctively recognizable detectives. Poirot, Marple, Nick and Nora Charles, Sam Spade, Charlie Chan, all are obviously present in this humorous take-off. The denouement is an accomplished indictment of the brains behind these detectives. The characterizations display an obvious familiarity with the popular radio plays of each of these detectives, in addition to the original novels and select movies. This movie marks the only time I've ever been able to see Truman Capote without being so unsettled I need a martini. The ending rant from Truman Capote is a veritable cry of victorious revenge from 'millions of mystery readers'.

Truly, though, isn't the greatest revenge on all of these detectives that few people now would be able to recognize them?
