Review of Muppets from Space (1999) by Tom R — 15 Feb 2012
(3 Stars) Muppets From Space isn't a great Muppet film, but it's still the Muppets and even on their bad days, there's still entertainment to be had. It centers around the origins of Gonzo, which is suitable for comedy since the running joke for many years has been no one knows what a Gonzo is or where it came from.
All of your favorite Muppets are here and they all get in a funny line or two (though one of my personal favorites, Sam Eagle, I think only has a single line of dialogue). There's also rightfully a ton of alien and Area 51-esque jokes that you either will or will not laugh at, but they're harmless.
Negatively, I think almost every theatrical release of The Muppets has been better than Muppets From Space and usually the Muppet movies get some pretty good celebrities, but the cameos in this picture are a little on the C and D list, and that's in the 1990's.
But Muppets From Space is still fun and I can't say it's embarrassing or detrimental to the franchise.
