Review of Munich (2005) by Vijay S — 30 May 2011
Undoubtedly Spielberg's most daring and best piece of work ever. It should rated as the best political thriller. Eric Bana's acting is something you cannot be taught in acting school, it is a natural and amazing feat.
After reading the book it was based on, I have even a deeper respect of how much Spielberg payed attention to detail and like he said in the preface, the only way to approach such a delicate subject is through empathy and facing the facts.
It definitely keeps you entertained and uneasy, in a good way. The best thing about Munich, once you look past the minute Hollywood-ized portrayal, is that it is a real story. About real spies assassinating people who are sworn to destroy them.
I would say this is in my top 5 favorite movies ever, just because it is so well put together and you could watch it over and over again. When you watch it, remember you are watching an art piece created by an artist, using the best actor.
