Review of Munich (2005) by Matt F — 11 Aug 2009
For once Spielberg manages to do away completely with the shmaltz and the over-the-top cliches for an interesting and gritty character piece concerning troubles in Europe and the middle-east. The film is reasonably shot and well paced, but the real attraction is it's raising of important questions about identity (both national and personal), terrorism and morality.
Dont expect to align with most of the major players but if you like your films to be thought provoking then this is definately worthwhile. Even Daniel Craig's dodgy accent is barable.
