Review of Munich (2005) by Ricardo O — 04 Dec 2009
Spielberg's followup to his summer blockbuster War Of the Worlds, Munich, is one of his best films of recent years along with Minority Report and one of the most underrated movies ever in my opinion. It is well written and his direction is top notch mixing good suspense with some very good acting from his cast. The cinematography is amazing, which isn't surprising after looking at Janusz Kaminski's track record (Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Minority Report). It also has great editing and as usual, a good score by John Williams.
Despite it having a slightly overlong length it is not boring and very exciting throughout. One of the best films of the decade and in my opinion much better than the overrated Crash which won Best picture the same year. It may not be one of his top 10 best films (at least 8 of those 10 films I would rate a 10/10) but it is still a great film by one of the greatest directors of all time. 8/10.
