Review of Mulholland Dr. (1999) by Stephen H — 18 Mar 2012
About as baffling as any film you will see the first time you watch it, but on an essential second and possibly third viewing, the puzzle will be solved (pending on which theory you go for) and after that, its all about enjoying the film which just gets better and better on each viewing.
Funny, scary, erotic, surreal and intriguing are just a few words to describe not just Lynch's magnum opus but without doubt one of the best films in cinema, past, future, or present, featuring a lead performance from Naomi Watts which just might be one of the best, if not the best, performances by an actress ever.
Masterpiece is an understatement.
