I'm not really sure what I think about it, and I guess that was the intent. David Lynch is such an enigmatic director with a non-conforming sensibility that seems to me to embody the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle on film in that you change it by merely perceiving it.

It's super weird with an eerie atmosphere of paralyzing fear and underlying deception. I liked it a lot and would place it among his top films like Blue Velvet and Eraserhead and Wild at Heart, all of which it shares the same sort of quirky, surreal, voyeuristic, boundary- breaking style which Lynch has been working on all of his career.

I do think it's possible to interpret it as a linear plot, and I read that Lynch said as much was possible although he refuses to fill in the details much the same way that Kubrick was about his films, which he felt spoke for themselves.

Naomi Watts and Laura Harring are fantastic. It's on my to see again and again list...
