Review of Mulholland Dr. (1999) by Parker S — 26 Jun 2012
When I look back at the movie, I think, how did I not realize that this was a dream? It really made no sense. A magical hobo that scares a guy to death? A car traveling at 100 miles per hour doesn't kill the girl in the back seat? Or the completely clumsy assassin? I didn't even realize it when they were at the play and the guy was saying "This has all been fake".
And I think that's what makes a great movie. One that makes you feel vulnerable and utterly confused, but somehow satisfied at how you were tricked. The story was really interesting. How she pieced together parts of her day into her dream, it was pretty genius storytelling.
The acting was great too, but lets just say that I am a part of the Lynch fan club now.
