Review of Mulholland Dr. (1999) by Don S — 05 Oct 2012
On par with other Lynch projects: beautifully shot, impeccably acted, confusing, overlong and pretentious. I find I like Lynch movies for their uniqueness, but I've never had feelings (really liked or loved) beyond that.
The chemistry between Watts and Harring was electric. The story runs along too slowly and the journey from whimsical (naive wanna-be actress helps amnesiac) to vindictive (explaining may ruin it for someone who hasn't seen it) is too stark a difference to wrap my head around.
Unfortunately, aside from the wonderful acting by the ladies, this falls into the other category Lynch movies fall into: overrated.
