Review of Mulholland Dr. (1999) by Kruna P — 01 Sep 2014
86%.
David Lynch mad e a good pilot for a shelved series and later on gate it a convoluted, misleading and at times immature conclusion to make it into a movie, which turned out to be the eye candy of many and the film had many interpretations, admirers and it became a cult film. I did not understand all of the film's twists in the endings, so I had to read the Wikipedia to understand the interpretations. Once I did the same I like it, but I have no interest to watch it again, quite contrary to most of the suggestions. When all the ideas are put together, it fails to tell why the director has given a good role to the character played by Justin Theroux in the first half. The beginning of the film and it's first half were linear, but it got kind of messy after that, but once put in order, it becomes both a mystery film and a psychological one. The film has a fine performance from Naomi Watts and there are a few stunning nude scenes. This is definitely a watch for those with interests on confusing films.
