Mulan (1998), directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook, centers around a coming of age girl who wants to bring honor to her family. in the Chinese culture during that era, bringing honor to one's family ment displaying yourself in a respectful manner, not speaking too much, and honoring tradition.
A terrible event occurs and Mulan accidentaly brings dishonor to her family. By the end of the film she is able to bring honor back to her family by saving China from extinction.
