Review of Mud (2013) by Clintus M — 13 Sep 2014
I've been wanting to watch this movie for awhile. After watching it, I wanted to learn a little more about it and noticed it was the same director from another movie I really liked: 'Take Shelter'.
This director knows how to build tension. Also, I noticed some great coming-of-age boy movies coming out recently. I really enjoyed 'The Way, Way Back'. Both coming of age movies, but 'Mud' was much grittier while the other focused on more comedic moments.
It's interesting that the boys in each meet and befriend older men, but it's the men from each movie that really set the tone. It's also crazy to see how good these kid actors are especially since I've seen plenty of crappy acting from many adults.
Maybe it's in the direction...I dunno. Solid performances all around especially from McConaughey.
