Review of Mud (2013) by Mackmm97 . — 22 Dec 2015
Ultimately a forgettable thriller about losing innocence, Mud benefits from a solid lead performance from a probably miscast Matthew McConaughey. Telling the story of two adolescents and their run in with a drifter, Mud riffs on the Huckleberry Finn strain of American fiction, Mud is perhaps hurt by its ability to ease the viewer into its clash of violence.
At the end of the day, nothing seems to really be achieved, but Mud is an enjoyable film that doesn't seem to really have any reason to exist other than to provide a vehicle for its star.
