Review of Mrs. Miniver (1942) by Andy P — 16 Jul 2008
What struck me about this movie was it's director,William Wyler. This is the 2nd movie I've seen done by him, and it was then that it struck that he makes just good movies. Watching and following the lives of these people struggling to cope with the heavy emotions of the second world war, empathy is achieved.
The moving speech at the end is one of it's kep points. Also the rose seems to be a metaphor symbolizing that there was beauty before the war, goodness before it, and after, there was hope for it to remain despite it's caretaker perishing in the process.
Greer Garson's performance simply stunning.
