Review of Mrs. Henderson Presents (2005) by Jeff B — 28 Apr 2011
I was hesitant to watch this one, in fact, it's one of the actress nominations I completely forgot about, or at least have a hard tim remembering. Well, now having watched it I think it was a very nice nomination and a really fun movie.
Judi Dench plays Mrs. Henderson, a recently widowed rich woman who decides to buy a theatre, pretty much just to have some fun. She hires Bob Hoskins to run it, but after it does poorly, Judi comes up with the idea to have everyone nude.
Of course, for the 1930s, that's risky. This was a very funny movie and Dench was pretty hilarious, it seemed like every time she spoke she had something witty to say, I especially loved the scenes with her and Christopher Guest.
A great movie.
