Review of Mr. Turner (2014) by Simon S — 01 Dec 2014
I've never looked forward so much to the death of a character in a film. As a biography, this shed no light whatsoever on the man, his motivations, how he developed his painting style, why he abandoned his family and why he treated his housekeeper in such a loathsome manner.
As a result I really didn't care whether he did another bloody seascape or tossed himself into the sea. I feel I'd have derived more entertainment from watching one of his paintings dry.
