Review of Mr. Turner (2014) by Martin I — 06 Dec 2014
Around 45 minutes too long, Mr Turner captivates and entices with it's superb direction and photography, as well as the lead performance from Timothy Spall. It's episodic meandering and somewhat lack of key character arch or narrative, however, means that it can be an effort to sit through toward the end.
A beautifully crafted film, Mr. Turner will no doubt be amongst the nominations come award season. The grumbling Spall may divide opinion in some quarters, but the magnificent Direction and Photography of Leigh and Pope respectively cannot be denied.
