Review of Mr. Skeffington (1944) by Aaron B — 10 Nov 2011
Vanity, thy name is Fanny.Fanny is a manipulative woman(Bette Davis) with numerous options, but marries a man(Claude Rains) for money.Marriage doesn't stop her from constantly entertaining & flirting, & she continues to get Marriage proposals from dozens of men, although she is Married & has a Child.
Her husband adores her & allows men to dote on her, even taking her places, but he is neglected, as is her child. She is so Narcissistic , she can only love herself. She ages well, & maintains her beauty (although I find Bette Davis kinda homely) & attentions from men of all ages, until she comes down with Diphtheria & it ravages her face & cause loss of hair & lashes, & now she learns how alone she really is.
Karma proves to be the bigger Bitch.
