Review of Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014) by Colby D — 14 Nov 2014
Mr. Peabody & Sherman is an animated feature length film based on the characters from the 1950s show Rocky and His Friends as well as The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. The characters end up making for a pretty fun film, and if you love PUNS boy is this movie for you.
Peabody & Sherman get up to all sorts of adventures filled with Comedy that both kids and adults alike can enjoy. There are all sorts of puns, butt jokes, and even some smarter humor only the adults will catch ( right down to a Bill Clinton joke). The animation is top-notch, and the voice acting is full of great names from Ty Burell as Mr. Peabody to Stephen Colbert as Paul Peterson. This movie had a lot of good fun, and even some pretty good laughs.
The only issue I had was a couple moments in the film felt kind of weird, sort of like they were stringing along the plot until the final climax.. but in the end it is in fact a movie about time travel. For the most part this film was really enjoyable and I found myself surprised at the amount of laugh out loud moments it contained for me.
Definitely worth a rental, especially if you have some kids to entertain. The movie has some educational value as well, seeing as it deals with time travel to major points of History. Of course it is not 100% textbook History, but it is fun and has some decent learning points.
