Review of Mr. Holmes (2015) by George F — 25 Jul 2015
Got to agree with Deb Dorman...just a great movie and a deeply respectful extension of the Holmes legacy.
Watson is largely missing, but traditional Sherlock fans will love this gentle, but intense, tale as Mr. Holmes pursues a very personal "case," with dementia rather than Moriarity as the primary nemesis.
This should wash away the taste of the Downey "Holmes" travesties and the TV updates, which may be clever and creative in their own right, but cannot be accepted into the true Holmes canon.
There hasn't been a true Holmes since Jeremy Brett...until now.
