Finally a movie where I didn't need to take a shower after viewing. McKellen is wonderfully exposed in this as an aging Holmes suffering a deteriorating intellect while he grapples with the details of his final case - that case that drove him to retire.
Why did it all go so wrong? I held my breath to find out.
