Review of Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) by Vova Z — 26 Jul 2008
Bears a striking resemble to Frank Capra's later film (which I saw first), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Gary Cooper does a fine performance as Mr. Deeds, and Jean Arthur makes a good companion. The rest of the cast is strong as well.
Each character has unique traits that make them likable. The plot was unspectacular during the middle, but picked up pace towards the climactic trial scene.
