Review of Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) by Whowants T — 24 May 2004
Evidently I made a Capra run when creating my Netflix queue. Watched Lost Horizon and Mr. Deeds Goes to Town this week. I like Frank Capra a lot, but watch a few in a row and the preachiness can get on you.
I love the old stars. They are the reason I fell in love with the movies in the first place. Give me Dick Powell, Ronald Coleman, Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Errol Flynn, Burt Lancaster, Ernest Borgnine, Basil Rathbone, Claude Rains, Katherine Hepburn, or Dorothy McGuire any day. I especially like the character actors like Henry Morgan, Charles Lane, Ellen Corby, Ben Johnson, Eugene Pallette, Billie Burke, Midred Natwick, Andy Devine, and Edgar Buchanan.
I've shared my love of movies with my kids. And we watch a lot of 'em. Its a bonding thing for us.
