Review of Mr. Brooks (2007) by Robert I — 20 Jan 2013
Kevin Costner plays a serial killer who finds remorse in the things he does. It's two hours of subplots that finally all tie together in the end. I found myself wondering what any of it meant in terms of the story but I was satisfied with the outcome.
Kevin Costner and Demi Moore are difficult to accept in the roles they play but not enough to be a horrible distraction. The biggest downfall of the movie was the, sometimes, atrocious and expositional dialogue.
There were several times throughout the movie where one would have to take a second and absorb what was actually said because it seemed so unnatural. There were a few unanswered question. Who was Mr. Brooks' other personality? Why did he take on that particular persona? What was his input after all of the events unfolded or had Mr.
Brooks gotten rid of him once and for all? It's an enjoyable psychological thriller.
