Review of Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948) by Molly C — 06 Jan 2008
Relatively minor comedy, though featuring a top notch cast and prefiguring the 'yuppie nightmare' subgenre of the 80s by some 30-40 years. Cary Grant is always a joy and here he makes the best of quite thin material, ably supported by Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas.
Slight (the plot is similar to any episode of 'Grand Designs'), but charming, nonetheless.
