Review of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) by Steph M — 07 Dec 2018
Stellar performances elicit a far more thought provoking tale and one not of whimsy but of man, nature and man's nature with Mowgli finally representing more than a token character to dance and sing along to.
It is a pessimistic but realistic look at how we fail and why we must do better and Mowgli is that metaphor. Many reviewers just see darkness, gore and no fun which I believe is the point that has sailed over their Disney addled heads but may strike a new generation with harder questions about our relationship to the animal kingdom.
