Review of MouseHunt (1997) by Sam C — 05 Nov 2011
It's easy to throw this film in a camp of generic family-friendly comedy films, but it far exceeds the mediocrity people paint it with. This film, in my opinion is a miniature masterpiece of sorts - it weaves it's way with genuine comedy, a tight script and beautiful cinematography whilst avoiding schmaltz.
The central characters have a spirit of classic hollywood, not dis-similar to Preston Sturges' slapstick capers and has a refreshing, mature tone that doesn't talk down to children. The central idea based on an addage of the Character's father is an inspired choice.
This is a clever family film with stellar performances and a nostalgic air that makes me return to it.
