Once you get past the ADD fever dream of a first act, you'll find the ADD still remains, but the contrast from the childish dreams of Bohemian artists to the stark reality of turn-of-the-century entertainment is really what makes this film great.
Oh, and the musical mash-ups, those were good too.
Still, it is interesting to see how far Luhrmann came as a director from this film to "The Great Gatsby" twelve years later.
