Review of Mouchette (1967) by David J — 21 Apr 2010
Told with a concise, pure and powerful visual language which deserves five stars on its own , it is the sort of attempted realism which is defeated by the suspension of belief that the circumstances and sequence of events can be so tragic and the values are too christian for my heathen liking.
of which I will generously deduct one star.
