Review of Motherhood (2009) by Matthew B — 19 Sep 2010
I had to see this movie after I heard its awful box office opening (just 88 pounds, or $131 US), but hearing its take, I didn't want to buy or rent it ... I just waited for the inevitable tv premire.
There's really nothing to like about this movie, which is unfortunate, because Thurman and Driver are great actresses. The story is beyond predictable, the acting is meh, and I just found myself wanting to find something interesting.
(Which I did, at the bakery when she was picking up the cake -- I never thought of the "Edna names" thing before, haha.) Overall, there is a reason why the opening weekend was so small. You've seen it before, and you've seen it better then.
