Review of Mother and Child (2009) by Aaron S — 12 Dec 2010
This movie has an incredible cast which works in its favor. Three separate stories come together here-2 of which are very obvious, and 1 that isn't obvious at all, and when the story line meshes at the end, you are surprised, sad, and happy at the same time so it works well.
What doesn't work here is the character Annette Bening plays. She is unlikable and even annoying at times, even if you are curious about her at first. Scenes go on too long, and essentially the movie becomes boring by the second half. Naomi Watts is brilliant here, but Bening won't be getting any noms for her role in this film anyway.
