Review of mother! (2017) by Doug P — 25 Dec 2017
This movie is a pretentious bag of horse @$!#. Glad that I didn't spend money on it. Really gotta say that I went into watching it after all JLaw's bleeding heart quotes on politics and the environment, and I still wanted to like this movie because I have enjoyed her acting, but moreover, I like Darren Aronofsky's work.
I loved The Fountain for the complex story and imagery, but this movie doesn't compare. Spoiler Warning: It ultimately blames God, in the context of Javier Bardem, realistically for how "Mother Earth" is destroyed.
Wish I could etch-a-sketch and start over like Mother! In the movie though. I'd be able to go back before I watched this over inflated Oscar chasing garbage that does not deserve a nomination, but you watch.
....Hollywood will eat that junk up towards best director, best picture, best actress, something, etc. @$!#ing tragic.
