This is not a thriller or a horror movie. If you are going in with these expectations you will hate the movie.
This is a fantastic representation of the relationship between nature, earth, god and humans. Aronofsky gravitates toward two subject in my opinion. Self centered obsessed personalities who miss the big picture and the human condition of misunderstanding the meaning of life while obsessing to define it with religion and God. This movie is the later. Some of the parts could have been delivered in a more subtle way but I think the smack in your face over the line approach was meant to wake us up. Great artistic expression of the frustration. Will definitely see it again to catch all the subtleties. Great to see this side of Aronofsky again.
