We have to stop letting Darron Aronofsky make films. Mother! was like if a teenager attempted to write and direct their version of a Dario Argento film-- this felt entirely like a student production. the last 30 mins are sloppy and careless camp. Mother! is Aronofsky's big "fuck you" to his audience.
Jennifer Lawrence's character is sweet and meek and so her acting struggles the entire film because this type of character is entirely out of her wheelhouse.
There is nothing redeeming about this film other than it's so bad it's something to talk about.
