Honestly, this film is panned because it critiques Christianity, & the American public can't deal with that, at all, on any level. If you're not a moron incapable of understanding allegory or a devout Christian hell-bent on seeing the devil in the film maker, the film is the psychological thriller/horror it advertises to be.
Was it entertaining in the way we typically like our movies to be? No. Was it interesting & thought provoking? Yes. It's more of an art house film than a local cineplex film.
