Review of Most Likely to Die (2015) by Kris G — 12 Sep 2016
Perhaps best taken in during a horror movie night with a bunch of jeering friends, Most Likely To Die works best when it's mostly unintentional humor has it's audience create their own laughter at the films expense.
This comes from the ultra cheesy villain in graduation garb complete with a lethal, Kung Lao styled mortarboard. It also comes from some very inconsistent reactions when the group start turning up dead. Initially, the surprise on display is little more than how you'd react to recieving 7 McNuggets instead of 6. Not until about 3 or so have bit the dust does the group really start acting like there's a crisis going on. The kills themselves are nothing original but props to the special effects team. The red stuff looks good.
Most Likely To Die teases a few swerves but a clue revealing the killer can be picked up very early on in the film. It also teases a sequel with the ending. Am I excited about that? No, but if, or when it arrives on Netflix I'll probably watch it when the cheeseball horror craving strikes.
