Review of Mortdecai (2015) by Ding C — 23 Jan 2015

This movie confuses itself with its own plot and its time setting inadvertently disrupting the movement of the story. There were character flaws that must have been intended to add to the mystery but instead added more confusion than awe. Putting this all aside, this was highly entertaining to me watching mostly my favorite actors doing their repartee of British affectations, outwitting and outperforming each other in what seems like a delightful romp around the world in search of a missing painting.

Johnny Depp is funny in the lead role being somewhat an awkward debonair, married to an excitingly conniving wife and guarded by a sex-addict of a man servant. Ewan Mcgregor lends his subtle interpretation to balance off the high strung performances of the characters around him.
