Review of Mortal Engines (2018) by Asa G — 14 Dec 2018
It was nice to finally see a movie in which both, male and female lead had an equal opportunity to contribute to the plot in meaningful ways. Some of the characters from the novel were given more depth than in the source material, which was a welcome addition.
Sadly, the movie didn't have the guts to follow through with the heartbreaking ending from the novel it was based on. This, by far, was it's weakest point. What was it's strongest one? The design of all the engines, moving cities and airships, I'd say.
They were simply beautiful. Even grander than I imagined while reading the book.
